When a star is born it is destined to struggle and evolve, until it illuminates a force beyond measure. Dazing even the most experienced of her kind, Miss Marianna is new to the airwaves but true to the game. This 26 year old Detroit born soldier rose in Northern Cali, where everyday Hollywood hurls a million ride or die rap chicks into a pool of dreams denied.
With strong artistic influences, her craft was tailored by the gutter of gangsta, the funk and slump of the Bay and the flash of L.A. Some where in-between her mother sensed that the stage was a muse for the twinkling youngster, and was determined expose her to champions of inspiration including Billie’s croon to 2 Pac’s Blues. Earth Wind and Fire to The Last Poets. Despite the odds of single parenthood, and social changes witnessed as a child of the 80’s, These lyrical geniuses pushed her passed the short life of becoming a statistic and encouraged her to explore her niche for singing, acting, modeling, dancing and more.
Miss Marianna chose Hip Hop over the effects of cracks aftermath. The microphone to be specific, Spoken Word was the vehicle that launched her beyond the limitations of urban decline.
By High school Miss Marianna joined the ASU Poetry Exchange and was a Blue Room Player (partnering in a local venue hosting poetry workshops and slam team poetry). She produced and hosted her own The Cipher Spoken word Venue. She’s made print in The Sacramento Bee, The Observer, and News & Review. Rousing frequents coverage in the Northern California. And with exposure on air as radio personality “Miss Maya on Fire” on KBMB the Bomb she finally became aware of in the greatness echoing in her voice.
Miss Marianna possesses the gift of command- roaring savagely about her passion to a timely beat. At times it’s almost surreal to see such a delectable bombshell drop verses potent enough to make even the most raved veteran choke.
Her Delivery? Hands Down, she’s raw, refreshing, always extending a high energy and dynamic show. Sensual and appealing until you realize- she’s reeled you in without taking it all off…
As compared to the Hip Hop New Soul greats her content parallels the depth of Lauryn to Jill, the meticulousness of Lyte to Floetry, the authority of Eve to Erykah, and the charm of the charm of Latifah to Missy.
However a new star is rising with unchartable cadence. Miss Marianna’s testimonies riddle throughout her lyrical savvy. She illustrates the voice of a young woman’s rites of passage from a ‘round the way girl, to a qualified Mistress of Ceremony. Good for women, without dogging the men.
